Introducing our 7th cohort of graduate engineers

At the start of this month, we welcomed 17 graduate engineers into this year’s UKPS graduate programme. Now, in its 7th year, the graduate scheme has successfully seen just under 100 graduate engineers join the course who have helped to provide the business with essential skills, fresh perspective and innovative ideas ensuring UKPS’s continued growth and success.

From 138 applicants from all over the world, we held a series of assessment centres where the candidates went through a rigorous testing and interview process, from which the final 17 were identified and confirmed. The programme kicked off this month with a 2-day induction at Stonehouse Court Hotel where the graduates had the chance to gain insight into the business, participate in team building exercises and meet colleagues who have previously participated in the graduate programme.

Since the induction the graduates have been introduced to their prospective Estimating and Design teams in our London, Stonehouse and Warrington offices and are going through an initial 8-week training plan. Over the next two years, our graduates will regularly come together for further training and enjoy continuous mentorship and supervision. Our aspiration is to see them evolve into competent and proficient Engineers.

Over the last 7 years, our graduates have become integral to the business, and growing and developing our own staff has been a key factor in our success in building a sustainable business for the long term. We are proud to be able to attract the next generation of engineers into the utility industry and we wish them the best of luck in their training and look forward to working with them over the coming years.
